Rolex Yellow Gold Datejust Ref. 6304

This is a very well preserved Rolex Datejust reference 6304 D known as an 'Ovetone' or 'Big Bubbleback'.  This reference was first introduced in 1953 and ceased production around 1957.   The solid 18kt yellow gold case is in excellent  with its nicely rounded case back designed to fit its early automatic movement.   What I love about this watch is its original black dial with gold gilt writing.  There is some aging on the dial but that does not detract from the beauty of this watch.   Rarely do we find this reference with black dials and this one has a wonderful vintage look.  I also very much like the smooth bezel of this reference as opposed to the reference 6305 which has a fluted bezel.
