Rare Rolex Day-Date 'Tiger-Eye' Dial - Ref. 18238

Up for sale is an exceptionally rare and striking execution of the legendary Rolex President, a  reference 18238 in solid 18kt yellow gold, boasting a magnificent  factory Tiger’s Eye stone dial.  During the late 1970s and 1980s, Rolex experimented with exotic organic materials, producing highly limited runs of natural stone dials. Because these slices of stone are incredibly fragile and prone to cracking during routine servicing over the decades, surviving examples in excellent condition have become increasingly sought after.   The authentic factory Tiger's Eye  dial of this watch has  chatoyant bands of rich amber, gold, and dark espresso brown which catch the light beautifully with every movement. True to Rolex's clean aesthetic for stone dials, it features no hour markers or minute tracks, letting the natural variance of the stone shine.  The solid 18kt yellow gold case  is in excellent condition with its original yellow gold Presidential bracelet with very little stretch and hidden clasp.  This wonderful watch is powered by a caliber 3155, automatic movement.  This watch comes with its original inner and outer boxes, Rolex booklets and hand written Rolex Guarantee papers stamped by retailer  Bucherer, Luzern.
