Matthew's Notes
Up for sale is a beautiful and highly elegant example of a vintage 1960s Omega Seamaster De Ville Automatic. The "Seamaster De Ville" line represents a golden era for Omega, seamlessly bridging the gap between a robust, water-resistant everyday watch and a sophisticated dress timepiece. This stunning reference looks just as sharp peeking out from a suit cuff today as it did over half a century ago. The watch features an immaculate silver sunburst dial that catches the light beautifully, accented by applied gold baton hour markers, matching hands, and the iconic applied Omega logo. This watch is the highly collectible KM6610 reference which was produced in the late 1960's. During the mid-20th century, the United States imposed incredibly high import tariffs on fully assembled Swiss watches. To bypass these expensive luxury taxes, Omega shipped bare mechanical movements from Switzerland over to the US. Once there, the movements were officially cased and packaged by American case manufacturers. The "KM6610" case was proudly produced in the United States by the Ross Watch Case Company. The letters "KM" were the exclusive US-market catalog system prefix denoting a solid 14K yellow gold shell provided by Ross. The condition of this rare bird is incredible. Unpolished and barely ever worn. It comes totally complete with its boxes, guarantee papers, instruction booklet, hang tags, original Omega band and buckle.
