Matthew's Notes
This is an incredibly scarce and rare vintage Cartier Jumbo Cushion "Oreiller" manufactured by the Concord Watch Company, dating to the 1970s. This timepiece belongs to a highly celebrated and distinct chapter in horological history. Before Cartier unified its global branches in the late 1970s, Cartier New York operated independently, sourcing elite, specialized watch movements and solid gold cases from prestigious Swiss manufacturers like Concord. This partnership resulted in ultra-exclusive boutique contract pieces that are deeply sought after by modern collectors. Unlike later, mass-produced European vermeil (plated silver) variants, this Cartier New York execution features a solid gold cushion-shaped case with a beautifully flat profile that contours elegantly to the wrist. The original dial beautifully preserves Cartier's legendary layout, featuring a light champagne finish and bold elongated Roman numeral indices. The case is finished with the classic cabochon crown and houses a beautifully engineered, Swiss hand-wound Concord movement. This watch is unpolished with Cartier numbering on the back of the lugs as well as its 18K hallmark clear and crisp. The watch comes with its red Cartier box, strap and tang buckle.
