Matthew's Notes
This is a vintage Tissot Navigator Worldtimer reference 4002, first introduced in 1951. It was a pioneer in its time as the first mass-produced wristwatch to feature 24 time zones simultaneously, designed for international travelers. Unlike modern GMTs that use an extra hand, this watch uses a rotating central disc featuring 24 global cities (London, New York, Tokyo, etc.). By aligning your home city at the top, you can instantly read the time in every other time zone via the 24-hour inner ring. The original creamy-silver dial has stunning, even patina and blue/red accents. The 36mm steel case features "beefy" lugs that give it a modern presence on the wrist despite its vintage proportions. This specific example features the highly desirable "pusher" at 2 o’clock, which allows you to stop and set the city disc independently. The watch is powered by the Tissot Caliber 28.5N-21T, a specialized "bumper" automatic movement built specifically for this model. The Tissot Navigator is highly regarded by vintage watch collectors for its historical importance and mechanical complexity, often seen as a more accessible alternative to world timers from brands like Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin.
