Matthew's Notes
This is a handsome vintage Record Geneve "Datofix" Triple Calendar Moonphase from the late 1940s/early 1950s. It’s a sophisticated collector's piece that offers a lot of "horological bang for your buck," featuring a rare four-complication layout in a classic mid-century aesthetic. While many moonphase watches of this era placed the complication at 6 o'clock, this Datofix features a more balanced, vertical layout with the moonphase at the 12 o'clock position, framed by the Day and Month apertures. The dial is the real star here—the striking salmon hue has aged gracefully, accented by a blue outer date track and rose gold-tone indices. The Record Watch Co. is well-regarded by vintage collectors for its high-quality in-house movements, particularly the Caliber 107C found in these complex "Datofix" models. The watch wears larger than its 35mm size suggests due to the prominent curved and flared lug design and thin bezel. The case remains sharp with honest signs of wear. The dial is original and unrestored. Record was a prominent Swiss manufacturer that was eventually acquired by Longines in the 1960s before ceasing production in 1991.
