Matthew's Notes
For sale is an exceptional example of the Patek Philippe Ref. 3603 in yellow gold, a watch that represents a daring and pivotal era for the manufacturer. Produced in the early 1970s, the 3603 was designed to house the massive Beta 21 quartz movement, resulting in a bold, "stepped" 18k yellow gold case that commands attention on the wrist. The iconic "stepped" 18k yellow gold rectangular case measuring 33mm x 37mm offers a substantial, heavy feel that epitomizes 1970s luxury. The legendary Beta 21 quartz calibre, a milestone of Swiss collaboration features a unique "humming" frequency and a sweeping seconds hand, bridging the gap between mechanical and electronic eras. The warm tone champagne dial features a date window at 6 o'clock and applied baton markers. The hidden lugs provide a seamless look when paired with a leather strap. This is a very rare Patek Philippe reference believed to be produced in around 500 units.
