Matthew's Notes

This timepiece is the highly coveted Patek Philippe Complications Annual Calendar, Reference 5036/1G-013.  Combining an elegant 37mm profile with a highly functional layout, this rare variant breaks away from traditional silver dials. It boasts a striking midnight-black face beautifully contrasted by a heavy, solid 18k white gold "brick-link" bracelet—delivering an unmatched presence on the wrist.  Powered by the legendary Calibre 315/199, this mechanical automatic movement accounts for 30 and 31-day months. It only requires a single manual correction per year at the end of February.  Highly prized by collectors, the deep black dial serves as a dramatic backdrop for the applied white gold Roman numerals and matching leaf hands, all treated with high-visibility luminescence.  The dial features an incredibly balanced four-quadrant complication layout. Sub-dials map out the day and month, a sector at 12 o'clock tracks the power reserve, and a romantic moon phase aperture anchors the date window at 6 o'clock.  Sculpted entirely from 18k white gold, the integrated multi-link brick bracelet conforms flawlessly to the wrist, securing via a signed double-folding hidden butterfly clasp.  The Reference 5036/1G sits at a sweet spot in neo-vintage collecting. As a discontinued model, it represents an era where Patek Philippe blended classical design flourishes—like the radial power reserve sector—with bold modern architecture. Because the vast majority of these timepieces were configured with light dials or leather straps, a full white gold model on an integrated factory bracelet with a black dial remains a true rarity.   An Archive from Patek Philippe has been ordered and will accompany the watch.
