Matthew's Notes
Own a monumental piece of space exploration history. Released in 1969 to commemorate the historic Apollo 11 moon landing, the Omega Speedmaster BA 145.022 is one of the most culturally significant and visually striking chronographs ever created. Produced in a strict limited run of just 1,014 numbered pieces, this reference famously graced the wrists of NASA’s astronaut elite, as the first 32 pieces were gifted to NASA astronauts and politicians. This legendary timepiece deviates from the traditional steel Speedmaster, opting for an 18k yellow gold presentation. The iconic case frames a solid gold dial, punctuated by rare, faceted black-on-gold hour markers and contrasting black chronograph hands for maximum legibility. Orbiting the dial is the unmistakable, vibrant burgundy tachymeter bezel—the defining visual signature unique to this historic release. Beating at the heart of this masterpiece is the legendary, copper-colored Omega Caliber 861. This manual-wind chronograph movement is celebrated by collectors for its robust reliability and precise timing.
