Gallet Flying Officer Chronograph

This is a vintage Gallet Flying Officer, AKA the Flight Officer,  which is an iconic military chronograph famously worn by US President Harry S. Truman.  Originally commissioned in 1939 for US Army Air Force pilots,  it is considered one of the first chronographs to incorporate a world time function. The all original black dial features an outer ring printed with major world cities (representing different time zones). By rotating the 12-hour bidirectional bezel, a pilot could quickly calculate the time in different parts of the world while crossing longitudes.   The minty dial also features 2 chronograph registers at 3 and 9 with all original Arabic lume hour markers. The roubust stainless steel case looks to be  unpolished in exceptional original condition. A Landeron 149 high quality manual wind movement powers  this horological masterpiece.  For the serious collector of military and aviation chronographs, the Gallet Flying Officer is a holy grail.
