Cartier 18kt Yellow Gold "Henry Ford" Circa 1978

This is an incredibly rare, vintage Cartier 18k yellow gold "Henry Ford" watch, produced in 1978 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Ford Motor Company. These ultra-exclusive timepieces (sometimes referred to as the Cartier Ref. 436) were personally presented by Henry Ford II to select executives and winners of the company’s elite Diamond Jubilee Award.  The original dial is a  magnificent sunburst royal blue dial that shifts beautifully in the light. It features 12 factory-set diamond hour markers and elegant gilt hands. The bottom of the dial is signed with the historic commemorative dates, "1903 - 1978".  The case is a distinct ultra-thin solid 18k yellow gold octagonal/cushion case  featuring beautiful stepped, scalloped corners. The  octagonal  silhouette is perfectly balanced by Cartier's iconic winding crown, set with a vibrant blue cabochon sapphire stone.  Beneath the commemorative dial lies a purely mechanical heart. This watch is powered by a ultra-thin, Swiss-made 17-jewel manual-wind mechanical movement.
