Breitling Stainless Steel Chronomat Ref. 808

This is a highly sought after vintage Breitling Chronomat reference 808 from the 1960's.  This model is a favorite among collectors for its reverse panda dial and its place in aviation history. Long before the modern Navitimer became a household name, the Chronomat was the ultimate instrument for pilots and scientists. This vintage example features an original  rare and striking "reverse-panda" dial, characterized by its deep black face and contrasting silver-white sub-dials. The 37mm stainless steel case is  crisp but has been polished in its lifetime.  This watch features the iconic bi-directional rotating slide run bezel, a mathematical tool used by pilots for complex flight calculations before the ear of digital computers.  This early Breitling Chronomat is powered by a 17 jewel manual wind movement.
