Matthew's Notes
This is an extremely rare Rolex Day-Date reference 1807 with an early Sequoia wood dial. The sequoia wood dials are the earliest wood dials Rolex used featuring a raw, unlacquered and rustic finish. These dials were only found on the 4-digit references and are much rarer than the later burl wood dials you see on the 5-digit references. The natural veining in the dial assures no two dial are the same. What is also special about this watch is that it is a reference 1807 Day-Date and not an 1803, which is the more common reference for a sequoia wood dial. An 1807 reference signifies that the watch has a bark finish bezel and bark finish links in the Presidential bracelet. The bark finish of the gold juxtaposed next to the rustic finish of the dial make for a very special watch.
