This is the first Perpetual Chronograph by Patek Philippe, reference 1518. It was introduced in the 1940s. This is an early version with the Patek, Philippe and Co signature on the dial which is highly desirable. The watch is in mint condition with a very strong case and well pronounced hallmark. The original dial is in excellent condition with the original hard enamel writing that has not been touched. It is very difficult to find the 1518 dial in such nice condition due to the fact the watch has a snap back case and moisture typically would tarnish these dials.
There were a total of 281 reference 1518 models produced between 1941 and 1952. A limited number of the reference 1518s were produced due to the complex manufacturing process of a perpetual moonphase chronograph at the time. It is one of my favorite perpetual calendars produced due to the simplicity of the case, the complication, and beauty of the dial.
