Matthew's Note
This is a rare version of a Rolex automatic watch from the 1940s. There is a manual wind version of this watch which is called the Athlete, but this automatic form is quite rare. It has a cylinder style case with the same automatic movement as the Rolex bubble back. It has a beautiful original dial with applied Roman numerals. What makes this watch even more unique is the fact that is come with the original box, papers, timing certificate, and tons of documentation about the original owner who was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army. See below for details.
