Matthew's Note
In the 1950's General Motors Overseas Operations commissioned special timepieces for their top overseas executives upon retirement. The case backs were engraved with the name of the executive with their dates of service. Patek Philippe also added a GM to the standard reference number to distinguish these watches. There were approximately 100 of these special Patek Philippe's for GM executives with only 20 made with black dials. The watch we are presenting here is one of those rare and exceptional timepieces. The oversized round case measures 35mm in diameter and has gorgeous flared claw lugs. The original black dial with applied Arabic and triangular markers does show some aging if you look closely but it only adds to the beauty of this vintage watch. The subsidiary seconds register at 6 oclock pops and adds to the vintage look. The inscription on the case back is bold and beautiful. This beauty is powered by a manual wind Caliber 12-400 movement. A Patek Philippe Archive accompanies this rare timepiece.
